ABOUT Pam Hogg

The fascinating way artists see the world captivates our attention, and Pam Hogg’s perspective is no exception. Her designs are a brazen celebration of punk, pop, and PVC, crafted for fearless personalities like Björk, Lady Gaga, and Siouxsie Sioux. Known as the “Caledonian Queen of Cling,” Hogg’s iconic bodysuits, spiked leather coats, and vivid stretch satins embody a raw creativity that thrives on the unconventional. Her enduring style is not just a look but a lifestyle, blending her inspirations from Glasgow’s Teddy Boys to the powerful imagery of Diana Rigg in The Avengers. Hogg’s artistic process is anything but restrained, recycling leather and fabric to create one-of-a-kind pieces that turn each stitch and seam into a personal manifesto.

Hogg’s career has spanned decades, maintaining relevance through her relentless creativity and dynamic personality. Starting in 1985 at Kensington Market, she became a staple in London’s fashion scene, then branched into music in the early 90s with her band Doll, opening for Blondie. This parallel journey in music and fashion allowed her to blur boundaries between stage costume and couture. Even today, her Hackney studio is a site of “divine disorder,” where she crafts each piece by hand. Known for her devotion to the punk ethos, she embodies both the confidence of her designs and the raw energy that fuels her work. Whether in latex or leather, her pieces demand attention, symbolizing the tenacity of her career and her ability to capture the spirit of those who wear her creations.

Pam Hogg’s world is not merely one of fashion; it’s a dedication to artistic integrity and self-expression. She views her work as cyclical, each collection building on past creations to evolve her signature style. Despite her reclusive work habits, Hogg’s designs resonate widely, inspiring a new generation of boundary-pushing artists. Her artistic process is an extension of her being—a continuous “playtime” where she channels her vision, creating looks that fuse grit, glamor, and personal history into garments as resilient and unique as she is.
