This one’s for cyclists, outdoor enthusiasts, and anyone curious…
With the Tour de France coming to Scotland next year, Bute has a real opportunity to be part of it. Funding opportunities are opening up and ideas are needed.
The Grand Départ lands in Edinburgh in 2027 – for the first time in its history, bringing global attention and a rare chance for Bute to be part of the story. Our wee Island already has a great cycling scene – and this is a chance to build on it. And whilst doing so – attract new visitors, grow local events, and support wellbeing.
At the centre of this is of course the Rothesay Pavilion; reopening as a space where people meet, make, work and play, and a potential hub for cycling, culture and community activity.
So, please join us and help make something happen.
What
Community Ideas Meeting
When
Sunday 19 April, 2–3pm
Where
The Pavilion Annex at the Bank of Ideas
This is an open session to share early plans linking Bute to Tour de France legacy funding and national cycling initiatives – and more importantly, to hear your ideas.
What could this look like? Races, hill climbs and triathlons. Family rides. Creative projects. Health and wellbeing activities. A “cycling fringe” around the Tour, with the Pavilion as a hub for screenings, talks and events.
You don’t need to be a cyclist. We’re looking for organisers, volunteers, creatives, businesses, young people – anyone who wants to be involved.
Come along, share an idea, or just listen in.
